Our Origins
|
|
 |
The Pathfinder
Group was established way back in the mid-1980's by a group
of outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy forest trekking and also
share the concept of Nature Conservation with MNS members.

Our Objectives |
The objectives of the
Pathfinder Group are :
>To educate members on Forest Conservation & Ethics.
>To create opportunities for awareness and appreciation of Natural
History.
>To assist members in attaining and developing some experience
in outdoor skills. |
|
| Our Activities |
Both outdoor & indoor
activities are organised, usually, on a monthly basis. All activities
are in line with the Society's policies and emphasis on Nature Conservation.
Our outdoor activities range from 1-day treks, overnight trips to
extended expeditions while ensuring there is minimal disruption
to the forest. |
The areas usually frequented are some established forest and mountain
trails, waterfalls, forest reserve parks and sometimes, a recce
to uncharted forest/mountain. These outdoor activities will enable
our members to utilise their outdoor skills as well as exchange
notes with fellow members. |
Our indoor activities are mainly concentrated on talks on Natural
History by invited speakers, slide shows, discussions and practical
sessions on outdoor skills such as First Aid course, rope work,
compass orienteering, etc.
Besides the above activities, the Pathfinder Group also extend their
voluntary services in participating in Local & International Environmental
Events such as Green Day Celebration, Clean-Up The World Day, etc.
Even as we look forward to greater participation from members in
a dedicated role and commitments towards the cause of Nature Conservation,
we would also appreciate and welcome suggestions from members in
providing information on new frontiers for exploration. |
