The Pathfinders annual sojourn at MNS-BOH Field Study Centre starts off with a day trek to the roller coaster-shaped Gunung Irau, one of the many favourite montane forest treks in Cameron Highlands among trekkers. You can enjoy nature-oriented activities such as botany observation and photography along the trail to Gunung Irau which is reputed to have one of the most beautiful mossy forests with rhododendrons, nepenthes, begonias, ginger flowers, etc. This trek is graded Class 2 3 (Moderate Tough) and will entail a slow trek of 3 to 4 hours with relatively steep ascent at certain intervals before reaching the peak. Not particularly suitable for beginners. However, for a start, you can trek until false peak or the lower part of the montane mountain. Dont be surprised if you come across litter left behind by irresponsible trekkers along some of the trails. Members are required to be fit for this mountain climb. Please do keep in shape for the next few weeks before the actual climb. We will most probably arrange a trial trekking session for participants to gauge their level of fitness before the climb. The
estimated cost is RM160 for accommodation, food, transportation
(car-pooling) and group fund. Places are limited. If members are
interested, please call the following coordinators before 16th November
for further information and reservation. Between 6:3010:30pm: Alan Ng 019-238 1319 Between 911pm: YK Chan 7729 9549 (h), KJ Mok 7980 5639 (h) / 016-275 8739, Wong Kay Chong 016-331 1269 and Soong Wye Ping 7729 0698 (h)
