Sunday. White-Water Kayaking for
Dummies, Sungai Langat (Hulu Langat). This river consists of
grade 1 and 2 rapids, which provides enough excitement, but also
feels safe and manageable.
This
trip is perfect for members who have never seen Sungai Langat this
close before, or who have no paddling experience. Due to the
nature of this activity, minimum age of a participant is 12 years
old. A parent must accompany children between 12–15 years.
Non-swimmers who are comfortable in the water can join too.
This
4 to 5-hour kayak trip will end with a visit to a hot spring where
there will be a brief talk about the differences between river and
sea kayaking. Wear clothes/swimsuit, sports sandals or old shoes,
which you can get wet in; a change of clothes; towel; sun block;
and money if you chance across durians after the trip.
Limited
to 14 members; minimum of 6 required to get the trip going, so
book early. Fee: RM90 per person with any balance going to the
Marine Group fund. Fee includes experienced river guides,
instruction, 2-person inflatable kayaks, paddles, lifejackets,
helmets, a dry bag for keys and cameras, drinks, picnic lunch,
snacks, and hot springs. Fee does not include transport, but
car-pooling can be arranged.
Full payment must be
made at the Pre-trip Briefing on 9th December (Sunday) at 4pm at
the A&W Drive-in, Taman Jaya. Members, please bring your
membership cards; non-members can sign up to be members on the
spot. Please note our payment policy: “No pay, no go. No go,
